My ultimate goal is for students to have real and meaningful experiences in reading and writing every single day. In my classroom, this means a Writing Workshop where students self-select topics, write for real purposes, and spend time talking about and reflecting on their own writing. In reading, students self-select from high-interest texts, spend time discussing their reading, and read A LOT, for a variety of purposes. I love engaging research projects and integrating reading and writing into the content-areas. Reading and writing should be fun! Reading and writing should make students feel excited, creative, and empowered!
